Shire of Roebourne
I would like to welcome you to the Shire of Roebourne, located in the beautiful Pilbara region of Western Australia. The Shire covers the towns of Karratha, Dampier, Wickham, Roebourne, Point Samson and Cossack across an area of more than 15,000 square kilometres.
We are a local government who is ready to do business and are committed to harnessing the growth in our region to create strong, vibrant communities.
Our largest community, Karratha, is being talked about all over the nation. We now have a road map for our future transformation of this town and it is called the Karratha: City of the North Plan. This plan sets out who we are, where we are going and how we are going to get there.
Most exciting this year will be the delivery of our projects in Karratha, which have been in the planning phases over the last couple of years. For the first time in more than 25 years the Shire of Roebourne will build new community facilities. These facilities include the Karratha Leisure Complex, Baynton West Family Centre, Bulgarra Community Centre, Karratha Youth and Family Centre, Bulgarra Sporting Precinct, Cattrall Park redevelopment and playground shading projects, as well as providing funding towards the Roebourne Youth Centre.
Work is continuing on our visioning for the smaller communities in the Shire. Wickham is in its final stages, and Dampier has commenced with Point Samson and Roebourne to follow shortly. This will ensure our roadmap for growth is complete, and each town's aspirations and priorities articulated.
As with last year it will be a big year, but Council is committed to the journey and continuing to deliver on the vision of making the Shire of Roebourne a place people choose to call home.
